Welcome to the Motorheads of Illinois website!

The Motorheads came into being when a few Illinois AOMCI members decided that it would be great to have a chapter located in Northern Illinois. They reasoned that there were a large number of outboard nuts who would appreciate being able to meet with other outboard nuts in their own vicinity.

Ron Vaughan Sr., Jerry Miers, Dean Hurder and Dave Wilson proceeded to send out questionnaires to these AOMCI Illinois members to see what their thoughts were and to ask if they would be interested in a local chapter. Thirty-three responses showed there was enough interest. An informational meeting was then scheduled in February at the Gander Mountain in Geneva, IL. Twenty-seven signed up to be members on the spot! Officers were appointed and a steering committee set up, and the Motorheads of Illinois were on their way!

So far, we have had a great logo designed by Michelle Maffei, a banner and directional signs and window stickers made (thanks to Greg Bulat), five meets scheduled and two newsletters sent. The steering committee will be meeting later in the year to assess our first years efforts. We would appreciate hearing from our 47 members to get their thoughts and ideas as we move forward and begin plans
for our 2009 calendar.

In the meantime, keep the props-a-turning!
